GoGirls MusicFest - Hard Rock Cafe: Dallas,TX - 11.7.03

The GoGirls Elite were out on the town in Dallas, TX to raise funds for the "Rock-n-Roll Camp for Girls". The evening's events started out with the phenomenally talented 13-year old Country/Blues singer, Maren Morris. You won't believe she's only 13 when you hear her sing - she conjures up deep, soulful blues styles reminiscent of Janis Joplin & country influences, like Patsy Cline. Keep an eye on her website, she's about to release her debut cd!

Following Maren was rare treat - Poptronica band Triprocket performed an acoustic set. It was really amazing! And not just for the impressive way that they performed their electronic-less set, but to see the raw form of talent within this band was indescribable. The reason for the "Unplugged" set is because last month, Triprocket loaded their truck ready to go on tour; while they slept, thieves stole ALL of the band's gear & ruined their car (which the U-haul was attached to) beyond drivability. But instead of cancelling the show, they perfomed with star-quality finesse and intensity that no other electronic act could pull off if you stripped their electronic element away. I only wish I had audio of their performance to accompany these photos.

Next, Amy Jo (bluesy-pop Singer/Songwriter) sang her heart out. With rounds of cheering from the audience throughout her performance, she delivered intense, intricate & heartfelt vocals & piano from the first note to the last. Accompanied by bass player Rick Read & Brandon (I'm sorry, I don't know his last name...) on drums, her trio was dynamic and enjoyable pop music with a Tool cover thrown in, performed 'Tori Amos' piano-style.

Our band (99 names of god) went on after Amy Jo & her band. Doug & Annette Conlon were a huge help onstage organizing things. We had a great time performing :-)

Then.....drumroll please....Eden Automatic! They enamoured the audience with their set, and we were all begging for an encore when they were finished. They chose to perform "Say You're Sorry" as a welcomed extension of their performance. And the ~ever-so-lovely~ Kaila Brasell from Triprocket accompanied her on vocals. A wonderful end to a really great evening.
